Occupational therapists provide hand therapy for a variety of injuries including severe arthritis, tendon repairs, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, cubical tunnel or traumatic upper extremity injuries. Orthopaedic physicians, plastic surgeons and hand specialists design the appropriate program for your injury. Splint fabrications to prevent immobilization or for joint protection are available.
A Certified Hand Therapist, one of less than 5,000 nationwide, is part of the DMH Rehabilitation team and offers specialized care in the rehabilitation of the upper quarter of the human body. CHTs have advanced training in the intricate anatomy of the arm and hands and merge occupational therapy and physical therapy in their treatment to restore function or prevent injuries.
