Nuclear Medicine Liver Scan
This examination is performed to assess the liver and it's architecture. No prep
is necessary for this study.
After registering at the outpatient desk, a technologist will come and get you
for your study. They will take a brief history in order to insure an optimal
examination. Subsequently, you will receive an intravenous injection of a medicine
(radionuclide). After a few minutes, images will be obtained with you lying on a
table and a camera placed over the liver. It takes approximately 45 minutes to
acquire the images and then the study is complete. The technologist will then
escort you back to the lobby.
