Welcome
DMH Hearth & Lung Institute

According to the American Heart Association, almost 105 million Americans have high cholesterol. High cholesterol is a major risk for coronary heart disease, which can lead to a heart attack or stroke. Fortunately, by making changes in your the diet, you can help lower your cholesterol and lessen your risk for a heart attack or stroke.

Most people know what is needed to improve their diet, but change is difficult. Often, people view "healthy" food as tasteless and boring. This does not have to be true. Favorite recipes can often be modified to be lower in saturated fat and sodium, while retaining the same level of quality as the original. This cookbook has been designed to provide delicious recipes that not only taste great, but are also heart healthy. This book also contains important nutritional information and helpful tips for grocery shopping.

A heart healthy diet does not have to be bland nor does it mean giving up favorite foods. All foods can fit into a heart healthy diet by monitoring portion sizes and using moderation with foods that are higher in saturated fat or sodium.

Good luck as you begin to make positive changes in your diet and overall health. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance as you begin this journey.
