DMH offers pediatric services for children age birth to 16. Services include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. All DMH pediatric therapists are Early Intervention credentialed by the State of Illinois' Department of Human Services.
Illinois' Early Intervention program's mission is to assure that families who have infants and toddlers, birth to three, with diagnosed disabilities, developmental delays or substantial risk of significant delays receive resources and supports that assist them in maximizing their child's development, while respecting the diversity of families and communities.

Physical Therapists work with children on gross motor skills—the larger movements such as running and jumping, that use the bigger muscles in their arms, legs, torso, and feet. Our therapists also assist them with adaptive equipment as needed.
Occupational Therapists work with children on fine motor skills---the smaller movements such as grabbing with the thumb and forefinger or handwriting, that use the smaller muscles of the fingers, toes, and wrists. Our therapist, also work with sensory issues and assist with splints, as needed.
Speech Therapists work with children to help them develop communication skills and master feeding needs.
