College football coaches from throughout the nation will convene in Decatur, Ill., May 5 and 6 for the sixth Illinois High School Combine sponsored and developed by Decatur Memorial Hospital Sports Medicine.
Approximately 264 soon-to-be seniors from throughout five states, representing 124 high schools, will showcase their football strength and agility for 50 college coaches at the Illinois High School Association approved event.
The combine begins Friday, May 5 as athletes receive physical examinations from 2:30 to 7 p.m., at the Kenwood Medical Center located at 102 W. Kenwood Ave.
Saturday's event will be held at the Decatur Indoor Sports Complex, 1295 W. Wood St., where beginning at 8 a.m., athletes will perform the 40-yard-dash, 20-yard shuttle, 60-yard shuttle, vertical jump along with other agility and flexibility tests. Position specific workouts and drills will follow including:
- 12:30 p.m., defensive backs and offensive line
- 1:15 p.m., quarterbacks
- 1:45 p.m., wide receivers and defensive line
- 3 p.m., linebackers
- 3:15 p.m., tight ends and running backs
The evaluations will be videotaped for documentation so coaches who could not attend the combine can have the opportunity to see the player's skill.
