With the exception of skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed among women in 2011.
DMH offers digital mammography, the latest in diagnostic mammography screening, to provide patients with optimal breast imaging and comfort. Digital mammography uses a computer instead of X-ray film to record images of the breast. The digital images can be enhanced, magnified, or manipulated for evaluation by physicians. DMH offers digital mammography at several locations: the Women's Health and Breast Center, Forsyth Imaging Center, South Shores Imaging Center and Sullivan Medical Center.
