DMH To Hold Early Detection Connection For Breast Cancer Awareness

Drive Through for a Free Bagel and Breast Cancer Information

Decatur, Ill. – Decatur Memorial Hospital will hold its Early Detection Connection program on Friday, Oct. 5 to recognize October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. From 7 to 9 a.m., women can drive through three convenient Decatur locations and receive a free ribbon-shaped bagel courtesy of Panera Bread and information about the early detection of breast cancer from DMH.

Early Detection Connection locations are:

  • Parking lot of DMH Express Care North, 3131 N. Water St.
  • Parking lot of Cancer Care Center of Decatur, 210 W. McKinley Ave.
  • Parking lot of South Shores Kroger, 255 1st Dr.

DMH’s Early Detection Connection is made possible by DMH Cancer Care Institute, DMH Women’s Health and Breast Center, Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois and the Moweaqua Ladies Golf League.

With the exception of skin cancer, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed among women in 2011.

DMH offers digital mammography, the latest in diagnostic mammography screening, to provide patients with optimal breast imaging and comfort. Digital mammography uses a computer instead of X-ray film to record images of the breast. The digital images can be enhanced, magnified, or manipulated for evaluation by physicians. DMH offers digital mammography at several locations: the Women's Health and Breast Center, Forsyth Imaging Center, South Shores Imaging Center and Sullivan Medical Center.
