Decatur Memorial Hospital Gifts Property to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois

Decatur Memorial Hospital has gifted an office building located at 310 W. William St., in Decatur to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois.

Decatur Memorial Hospital gave the property to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois during a Gifting Ceremony held at the West William St. location on Nov. 2. DMH President & CEO Ken Smithmier presented the deed to the property to Jeanne Stahlheber, Chief Executive Officer, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois.

“We are deeply appreciative of Decatur Memorial Hospital and the DMH Foundation for their support of our mission,” said Stahlheber. “After 20 years of serving Macon County, this gift enables us to enter a new phase for our agency. It ensures that we can continue to grow the program and our capacity to serve more children in need of a caring mentor.”

The office building was built in 1984 and was originally owned by Decatur Podiatrists Dr. John Graham and Dr. Terry Graham. Decatur Memorial Foundation purchased the building in September 1996, and in June 1999, Drs. Graham and Graham moved their office to Kenwood Medical Center on the DMH campus. The following years, the office has been utilized by Family Medicine Physician Patrick Cavanagh, M.D., and Kidney Specialist Mohammad Hasnain, M.D., both DMH Medical Group physicians. The office has also been the home of Project Success and Junior Achievement and most recently Central Illinois Health Associates.

The 2,880 square-foot building has an all brick exterior and is constructed on a 14,959 square-foot lot. The property has a black-top driveway with 17 parking places and a 220 square-foot storage building located in the back of the lot.

The interior of the building has 10 office spaces, a waiting room, a conference room, a break/kitchen area, anoffice equipment room, a reception area, four storage areas and two bathrooms.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is planning to relocate its current office location at 117 N. Main St., in Decatur to the newly gifted office at 310 W. William St.
