Sept. 12, 2008...Decatur Memorial Hospital is planning a new state-of-the-art DMH Express Care facility located at 3131 N. Water St., on the site of the former Lone Star Restaurant.
The 6,200 square foot, wheel-chair accessible, one story building will include:
- a private admitting area for confidential registration
- two waiting areas—one for well patients and one for sick patients
- 12 exam rooms
- a procedure room
- two triage rooms
- X-ray room
- Laboratory area
- central nurses station
“We’ve outgrown the space of the current DMH Express Care North facility due to the large number of people who seek care at the facility,” said Ken Smithmier, President & CEO, Decatur Memorial Hospital. “This new Express Care will be larger and will have accessibility from both the north on Water Street and from the south on Main Street, making it very convenient for people to get in and out of the facility’s parking lot.
The new Express Care will be DMH’s largest Express Care facility. DMH currently operates three Express Care facilities in Decatur for quick, non-emergency medical care for adults and children: DMH Express Care North located at 2975 N. Water St., DMH Express Care East located at 4847 U.S. Route 36 East, and DMH Express Care Corporate Health located at 2120 N. 27th St. The clinics are staffed by board-certified physicians and offer on-site laboratory and X-ray. No appointment is necessary.
“Once the building is complete, the current DMH Express Care North facility will close at 2975 N. Water St., and relocate to the new location,” Smithmier said.
Demolition of the former restaurant is slated for next week.
