July 10 2009, DECATUR, Ill…Decatur Memorial Hospital (DMH) welcomes Cardiothoracic Surgeon >Marvin J. Derrick, M.D., to the DMH Heart & Lung Institute. “We’re very excited to have Dr. Derrick join our team of cardiothoracic surgeons,” said Ken Smithmier, President, Decatur Memorial Hospital. “His experience and professionalism will be tremendous assets in the DMH Heart and Lung Institute.”
Dr. Derrick is a Diplomate with the American Board of Surgery, and a Diplomate with the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and specializes in vascular surgery, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery and valve repair.
Dr. Derrick completed a thoracic surgery residency in 1989 at the University of California—San Diego and a general surgery residency in 1986 at the University of California—Davis. He received a medical degree in 1981 from the University of California—Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in 1977 from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. He also served as a cadet in the United States Air Force Academy from 1973 to 1975.
